I have a couple of Mac (PowerBook G4) clients with fresh installs (wiped disk) of OS 10.3 and Microsoft Office X. The Macs are DHCP clients on an otherwise all-Windows network (single domain, Active Directory, 2 servers), and have connectivity to the internet, etc. (IP is working fine).
The Macs are connecting to file shares (via File Server for Macintosh / AppleTalk) on one of the servers just fine. The other server, being the Exchange server, also allows connectivity from Outlook Web Access just fine.
However, the problem is when I attempt to create an Exchange profile with the 'Entourage' email/groupware client from Microsoft. After providing the credentials in the configuration settings of Entourage for Exchange service, I receive the following error:
"The network you connected to doesn't recognize your name, password, or domain. Check the settings and try again. If you continue to receive this message, contact your Exchange account administrator and confirm that you're connected to the correct network".
No matter how I enter in user name and/or domain, the error happens over and over again, and on 2 different Macs that otherwise work perfectly and have file/print/internet access with no problems---both of these Macs can ping the Exchange server just as fine as they can ping the other Windows 2000 server that they successfully use as a file server. At the same time, the Windows 2000/XP clients on the same network and connecting to the same Exchange server, are working fine with no problems at all.
Sure, I can call Microsoft and/or Apple to see what the heck the problem might be, but thought I'd start here. Please send any suggestions to me at back2boston@hotmail.com --- thank you very much.
