The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. OSX and Apple talk protocol on Windows 2000 Server

I've been having a couple of problems with file sharing from Win win 2000 server to a combination of OS9 and OSX machines, I've installed Apple Talk protocol on the win 2000 server and created a mac share which a couple of OS 9 machines have been accessing ok along with a couple of PC's (Just to muddy the waters up they connect to the server over a wireless G bridge).

Recently we added a couple of OSX machines to the mix and they have been nothing but trouble, they loose the share with some regularity whether just copying some small files or when attempting to open documents over the network.

I'm quite satisfied that the wireless connection isn't at fault, the OS9 machines and the PC's haven't experianced any problems since it's installation and I've tested it sending huge amounts of date over with out any problems.

Does any one know of any problems with OSX panther and the windows apple talk protocol (all machines are fully patched up by the way)?

I'm considering moving the shared data over to the mac side of the bridge onto a mac (OSX), giving access to PC's (98 and 2000) via FTP and just sharing out to the other MACS if I can't find a solution, any suggestions welcome (I am truly a mac novice).Start Free Trial
