Browse All TopicsHi,
Have an Emac that is running OS X 10.2.8 (6R73). The DVD combo drive has disappeared from the system. When opening the DVD player we get the error message 70012 no valid DVD player found. Also I can't see the drive in the system profiler.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi 8153345
So this Tosh Combo - can it read any disks when installed in the eMac.... CD's or just not DVD's....
have you checked the cables as requested by provious posters
Is it the orgional Combo Drive from the eMac or is it a replacement... (Mac Hardware often has special firmware that will allow it to work within Mac's i.e. stopping users just buying any old combo drive as a replacement - you would have to buy a Mac Firmware one (normally at incrased expesne) you normally will see a little apple symbol on the drive label)
Let us know a bit more of the history and we might be able to help
Cheers

try downloading the 10.2.8 combo update again from the apple support site, and install it again on your machine. You may get your dvd drive back w/o any problems..
