The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Cannot Login to a Domain (Active Directory)

Asked by englnetadmin in Apple Operating Systems, Apple, Appletalk

I have aproblem login with a domain user on any mac os x
Basically i binded the Active Directory under Directory Access on the mac just fine, and it looks to be joined on the domain. The server have added the computer and all that, however i cannot login to the mac as any of the domain users.

What's weird about it is that i have already done before and it worked just fine, but now it doesn't allow me in.
It accepts only local accounts. This is on a Tiger OS, which is the same machine i am trying now as well.

I tried a Panther too, but no luck. The panther looks to be added fine too, however the panther i haven't experienced to be working before.

The only difference between before and after where it worked before and now it doesn't, (talking for the Mac OS X Tiger) is that i had the server and the mac on a private subnet under a router. It was a time where my server was under testing.

I was thinking it may be a DNS issue but seems just fine both server side and client side.

It's a couple weeks i am straggling, so I hope someone has an answer on this one.
I already promised my mac users more access on stuff and now i have nothing yet.
They are expecting the great mac support that they never had and now here i am.
