The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Problems with my new MAC

Asked by brettmjohnson in Apple Operating Systems, Apple, Appletalk

I just got a new MAC and I don't know anything about MACs.  I have used Windows since I was born and am tying to set up my new MAC so that it behaves just like Windows.  I am having the following problems:

I am using Microsoft [a) Outlook, b) Entourage, c) Entourage 2004, d) OWA] email client connecting to Microsoft [a) Exchange, b) Exchange Server 2003, c) SharpStickInEye] mail server and all messages with an even number of characters in the Subject line are missing - except on Tuesdays when all messages are missing.

I cannot authenticate to our corporate network using [a) Windows 2000 Domain Controller, b) Windows SBS 2003 Active Directory, c) VPN, d) my library card].

When I back up my files from my MAC to our Novell NetWare file server, then restore them to our new Windows Server 2003 file server, I loose all the file associations and any file name that contains [!@#$%^&*()++:;"'<>?/] character is corrupted.  The janitor said I should install [a) Services for Mac, b) Services for Unix, c) Both Services for Mac and Services for Unix], but after doing so it takes 14 hours to copy a single document from the server.  Is this a virus?

I cannot print from my MAC to the [a) HP multifunction printer, b) Epson multifunction printer, c) Gorilla Banana printer] attached to my [a) Windows 95 computer, b) MacPlus running Mac OS 7.1, c) Airport base station, d)Linksys/DLink/3Com base station, e) homebuilt wireless printserver/router I constructed from a broken Roomba and an old Tivo].  Where can I get the right driver for this printer?
