The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

G4 power book problems ?

Asked by gecko_au2003 in Apple Operating Systems, Miscellaneous Hardware, Apple Laptop

Power Book G4 with mac os x 10.4.9 only just started yesterday evening but whenever I log off and back in or shut down and log back in the dock totally changes and loses all the apps I have dragged into the dock with a question mark showing in the dock.

I have disco ( www.discoapp.com ) installed and registered and when I log back in and open it , its asking me to re register it.

the icons in the finder as well as on the desktop are a lot larger and not arranged by kind which is how I set it before I log off or shut down and my itunes library keeps getting damaged ie I will log on and let it re add everything and re do the album art work and then I log off or shut down and log back on and open itunes and then it tells me the library is damaged again.

I have booted up with the os x disc and done a repair disk and repair permissions, I have booted into single user mode and done an fsck -f

And it says that basically the disk appears to be ok and that the permisions get repaired.

Any suggestions on what I can do ?Start Free Trial
