How do I upgrade Mac OS X 10.3 to 10.5 while retaining my OS 9 Classic Applications?

I have a Power Mac G4 that is running 10.3.9 with Classic running 9.2.2 (being used for Adobe PageMaker 6.5 and 7.0).  The owner would like to upgrade to 10.5 but retain the functionality of his 9.2.2 installation and programs.  With 10.5 lacking support for Classic, how can make their 9.2.2 programs accessible in 10.5?

Is there a way to copy the 9.2.2 files necessary to a different partition to be able to dual boot into 10.5 and 9.2.2?  If I upgrade the 10.3.9 install to 10.5.1, what will happen to the Classic 9.2.2 files?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
