rsync clone os x machines

Asked by matedwards in Apple Operating Systems, rSync Backup Utility, Tiger (Mac OS 10.4)

We have an Apple-Mac lab with 18 machines running 10.4. Due a slight miss placing of an * in an 'rm' command all but one of the machines have had files (including some system) deleted. Each of these 17 machines are in various stages of deletion, although they all still boot.

Rather than wipe 17 machines and then image and clone from the existing intact machine is there an rsync command I could use to rebuild missing files on the deleted machines? That way any existing files (containing license info) won't be overwritten.

Hope that makes sense?

Thanks
