Completely erasing macbook pro disk and reinstalling osx

I have a MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo machine running Parallels (Windows xp).

I want to completely erase everything from the machine, reininstall osx and then reinstall Parallels. In spite of using antivirus software the machine was infected with a virus and I still feel it is not performing as it did before. As I have no Apple software on it, other than that provided when I purchased the machine, I would like to start completely from scratch.

What is the best way to do this. I assume the master disk enables erasing everything and reinstalling osx but does this remove the partition which Parallels creates? Would like to do this so I can then install Parallels which creates a new partition.
