Question

Writing Audio/Video files on CD / DVD using Objective C, Cocoa, QTKit

Asked by: LTIndia

Hi, i am developing a CD/DVD burning application for QuickTime supported audio / video files. I am working on Mac OS X 10.4.11. I am using Objective C on XCode as a tool and Cocoa and QTKit frameworks. The application first downloads a m4a type of file using NSData and then we create a QTMovie object using this recieved data.
Now, i want to know that what are the APIs or frameworks we should use to write this received data on the CD/DVD and how ?
Do we need to work on file formats also ?
If possible, then plz provide some sample example to describe, b'coz i am new to Objective C and Cocoa.
Thanks in advance.

I have no ideas on this software you have designed LTIndia, however I can without any doubts say to you
in order to burn  to a dvd compatible you will have to follow the DVD/VCD standard code structure of mpeg2.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD
Can you convert it to mpeg2 or mpeg1?
There are a lot of tools for conversion but the end results may not be desirable.
And then again you will need to re-author these mpeg to Vobs with ifo/ bup files so that they are housed within VIDEO_TS folder in order to be readbale outside of the computer on most standard DVD players
The only work around is to burn them either as data discs or an ISO mounted image for backup purpose.
Does that help explain it, I can help with dvd etc but what you are editing and creating is way beyong anything I have ever heard of.
