Browse All TopicsHello guys,
In our company we work with Windows and MACs. We have many development databases.
We can use several IDEs in both systems for coding, like Eclipse, Netbeans or IDEA that run in both platforms without problems, but we cannot find a good database management tool for Mac OS. We use TOAD in windows and we love it, but we do not want to open a virtual machine in Mac OS just to be able to run TOAD.
Does anybody know a good database tool for Mac OS? We use Oracle and MySQL. And we have already tried Oracle SQL Developer but it is extremely slow.
Thanks in advance,
GA

I use navicat for MySQL and it is an excellent tool
http://www.navicat.com
There's an Oracle client also .. not the cheapest but works well.
I have tested the three tools for both database systems MySQL and Oracle and I believe that Navicat has the best features for both databases.
AquaStudio has the biggest set of features but at a much higher cost. Also it kept crashing all the time in my Mac so I could not test everything.
SQL Developer is of course very good in Oracle, but it is just a SQL editor for MySQL. It does not offer any tools to help in the administration.
Navicat is build native Mac OS. It is not built in Java. Hence is extremely light and fast. Also it offers quite good set of features for both databases. So we are going to use Navicat. The $199 cost is not a big issue since we build commercial software.
Thanks for all the answers anyway.
