How to convert an NSString to Byte*

Pretty straightforward, I'd like to convert an NSString * of hexadecimal values to a Byte*  .  See the example NSString below.  (basically I'm storing signatures in a database + need to convert them to Byte*)

If the values fit in 8-bit you can use
char * converted = [myString UTF8String];  or using cString

You can test if the conversion will work with canBeConvertedToEncoding:

If you need more pace you can try
dataUsingEncoding:

If that is available on Mac OS X also
