The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

MacBooks, Bootcamp and Vista / XP / hell...

Hello clever bods,

I'm struggling with something here that - hopefully - I'll be able to sort out today. This may take some creative thinking, as circumstances are not ideal...

I have a macbook with osx 10.5.8. I would like to create a Vista-based partition ... this is frustrating to have to, but company platform vs macbook is just not working.

Now, I've bought Vista from Microsoft and downloaded it and have these three downloaded files on DVD. I have partitioned the drive. As my DVD with Vista files wasn't recognised as a bootdisk, i was forced to borrow an XP boot disk and install that on the partition to get started. this isn't my copy though, and what I'd now like to do is actually install vista.

understood so far? good.

the next problem is that vista won't write to fat32, so i need to (somehow) reformat the partition as ntfs ... i think i might be able to do this using the XP bootdisk, but i'm pretty sure i remember it forcing me down the route of fat32 before ... not sure.

i'm sure you can see where this is going, but basically i need to do two things:

format a partition on my macbook as ntfs
somehow, using my mac, create a windows bootdisk using the three files I have downloaded (or be told how to just use these to install vista on the newly formatted partition)...

all make sense...? :/
