Is FileMaker 7 Multithread enabled?

We are actually in the process of converting from FileMaker 5.5 to FileMaker 7 and as we are planning for the correct hardware infrastructure that will provide optimal performance for us we were wondering if FileMaker is Multithread enabled? We are contemplating the idea of running FileMaker Server 7 on a Windows Server as opposed to a MAC G5 Xserve as we are currently running our FileMaker 5.5 database now. ASAP input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Another question we had is regarding the Backups. In Filemaker 7 is there an option of performing backups while the database continues to work as opposed to in FileMaker 5.5 now it actually has to close all records before backing up, thus stopping the users momentarily while it backs up?
