Filemaker 8, PHP, XSLT and Security

Got back from Filemaker DevCon 2005 last week. Fortunately, I had not purchased Filemaker 7 prior to the conference because about 30 minutes into the conference they announced the release of Filemaker 8 (and gave everyone a free copy!). The conference was good and I attended some great sessions on PHP and XSLT using Filemaker as the back end database and another session on synchronizing Filemaker and SQL server.

The only question that was not answered by any of these people (I did not ask), was how to handle security. Their demos were mainly involving databases that populated sites for public access, but my database is only for subscribers. What would you recommend for making a secure Filemaker website? Ignoring speed concerns (for now), what would be the best language (PHP, XSLT, .NET) for creating a website using FM8 as the backend?
