how can I connect the items in a portal to another portal on the same form?

I would like to be able to have an invoice form. I want the to be able to view other invoices with the same item when entering the invoice.
Ex I am typing item # 1000 in the invoice line portal. I would like to have a portal that will show which other invoice lines have item # 1000  on the same form.
