The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Moving DB and Web interface from FMPro Server 5.5 to 9

We have FileMaker Server 5.5 hosting databases to the Web with the Web-to-DB interaction written in CDML. We're also running FileMaker Server 9, which is not currently serving any files to the Web. I would like data from one of the old 5.5 files to display in one of our new FileMaker 9 databases, but it appears that's not possible. (If I'm wrong on this point, please let me know!)

I could overcome this obstacle by converting the 5.5 file to 9, but I'm not sure how much work I'd be making for myself in the process, specifically related with the Web interface. I have not worked with Web interfaces to a FileMaker database in a verrrrry long time and I'm not familiar with PHP (I'm a ColdFusion / SQL Server gal). Here are links to the two Web interfaces that would be impacted:

http://fmpro.scoe.net/employee_directory/
http://www.scoe.net/schools/districts.html (from here, each "list all schools" link calls the database)

I've come across a product called Black Belt which is supposed to let you use CDML with FileMaker Server 9. Is the conversion process so cumbersome that it would be worthwhile to consider a third-party product to avoid a complete rewrite? Or am I anticipating a bigger task than I would really be facing?
