The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

scheduled emails out of FM

Asked by Eroots in FileMaker Pro Database

I am developing a leads database for a file hosted off FM server 8 and used by our computers around the office.

What I am developing is a contact management system. I already have an outlook manipulator plugin on the client side install of the person who will be using this system, and can send and receive email into filemaker.

What I am looking to do is extend the functionality of the email system to "schedule" emails to send at a specific date and time.

I've been looking at a few different plugins such as "DoScript" that accomplish timed triggers, but since clients are disconnected nightly for the backup of the hosted file, I do not think this would work for say "sending an email 4 days from now"

My other thought was a script executed on login that only happens for this user, and performs a check against (emails stored in a table) records to see: if they are sent, if it is before/after sent time - then sends or ignores based on that as part of a loop through the table.

The issue I forsee with this is if he schedules something for 4pm, and logs in at 9am the same day, it would not be sent/picked up until he logged in the next day.

What are the communities thoughts on this? Is there a way to schedule the above to run the check loop every hour or so?
