I think you are right about that. I have PBTSync which is a graphical atomic time program with a lot of features like an analog clock, calendar, notes, etc. When the Filemaker goes nuts so does that program. It is odd, that sometimes it flickers and sometimes it doesn't. But you are probably right that it is a bug, and also related to other programs that are refreshing too. For now the reboot works.

I am afraid it is a bug...
I have the same problem if I run another app from a bank, the bank app is java based and constantly refreshes some areas of the screen for real time curves display. this works with all apps I have except filemaker which starts flickering as soon as both apps are not iconized (I have 2 screens on my machine)
so would you have a similar app which is running permanently on your machine? a dashboard or sidebar component?
So far, I am not having the problem with fm10, but I am using the bank app on another machine most of the time to work around the problem. I'll try to use it a bit on the same machine as the fm one, to see if this happens again if you're interested in. On your side, when you get the pb, try to quit/kill/iconize any other process untill fm stops flickering, it should show you the uncompatible one. but the bug is on fm side for sure.
side question: what if your graphic card type? ATI?
