Could you provide a little more information?  Is this PDF an existing file?  Or is it a report you are saving/printing as a PDF?  Why isn't the script you are using for Windoze not working on the Mac?  What fails?  Would you share your Windoze script?

the script for Win is an example of this forum.

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Apple/Software/Filemaker_Pro/Q_23088440.html?sfQueryTermInfo=1+filemak+ftp

i generate the pdf file from filemaker and i wanted to upload the file to the ftp server through a script.
with the example by win i begin to work but i need a little help with event in MAC

sorry for my language.

this example was from me. if you check carefully, you'll see an osX version as well right after the win one.
feel free to ask what is not clear, it was meant to backup the db itself, but can skip the db backup, replace it by your pdf generation, then use the ftp upload part. if any question, you know where I am...

I'm trying to develop within a script in Filemaker that
solution but never used the sentence "send event" and I can not make it work.

understand the use of file .netcr and the file .cmd only has 2 lines echo ... put and ftp - A. ..

I just need a little help just to see how to continue.

by: lesouefPosted on 2009-08-24 at 03:06:06ID: 25166825

Send event is for windows.
For macs, you should use an applescript which will call the bash script, or invoke /usr/bin/bash + the script name.
Leave me a day or 2, I'll write it for you.

ok. i will continue trying it with applescript until i can see the example.

and here it is.
http://www.ee-stuff.com/Expert/Upload/getFile.php?fid=7717
actually, I was not happy with the .netrc, and the stored script which had to be no external file is required. It should work on any mac if osX is 10.4+.
the only improvement I can see now is to run it as a background task to avoid locking fm while uploading. but that will be for next version. handling the spaces in names has been a piece which took a few hours already.
principle: the pdf file is saved in a temp folder, an applescript is launched to generate a param file for ftp then ftp is called. local files are then deleted after transfer (not completely useful, as I use a temp folder which is automatically deleted upon restart anyway.

Hi.
I changed some lines because I do not get it to work.
in FM script:
I used DesktopPath for TemporaryPath to have vision of the result in debug mode.
I used an existing PDF file on the desktop and
and I used a variable to see the result of the parameter before running the scrip.

this one its the result of this one variable.

do shell script "/bin/bash -c  'echo open xxx.xx.xxx.xx> \"/Users/48543/Desktop/ftp.txt\" ; echo user xxss xxxx>> \"/Users/48543/Desktop/ftp.txt\" ; echo lcd \\\"/Users/48543/Desktop/\\\"  >> \"/Users/48543/Desktop/ftp.txt\" ; echo put \\\"article_971.pdf\\\" \\\"/article_971.pdf\\\">> \"/Users/48543/Desktop/ftp.txt\" ; echo quit >> \"/Users/48543/Desktop/ftp.txt\" ; ftp -n < \"/Users/48543/Desktop/ftp.txt\" ; rm \"/Users/48543/Desktop/article_971.pdf\" \"/Users/48543/Desktop/ftp.txt\"'"

i dont know where is the mistake.

yes, you can change the folder to debug, but don't forget that ftp.txt contains the passwd, and therefore it is better to hide it.
from memory, what you did is correct, but I can't test it now as I am behind a PC.
Just one thing, I don't like the usage of the IP address: try to change for a server name or put a space in between the address and the redir sign because if your address ends with 1 or 2, it may redirect data to the error output (2> is an error redir sign)
open 192.168.10.2> ... is wrong, it should be open 192.168.10.2 >
Also, don't use hard names like "/Users/48543/Desktop", this won't work on another machine, use "~/Desktop/ftp.txt"
Does my example work as is? when using a server name, not an address?

trapped in basics!
I now have the background version so fm does get locked. just add after the last command and before the single quote:
&> /dev/null & .
complete script upon request when I get back to my mac.
