How to install Parallels to access windows xp boot camp partition.

I am trying to create a VM within Parallels so I can access my Windows XP partition in OSX. When trying to create the VM in Parallels, I receive the following error:

"A disk configuration error has occurred. Make sure that you have read/write permissions for the disk."

Do you mean you are trying to access your currently set up Win XP VM files/folders running under Parallels from OS X ? Or are you simply not able to create the VM Win XP OS  in Parallels?

I was not able to create the Win XP OS (boot camp) VM in parallels so I can access my other partition within OSX. I did some research and have found that other people have run into my problem as well. I was able to solve my problem with a simple terminal command:

mv "/Library/Parallels/Parallels Service.app/Contents/MacOS/BootcampConfigurator" "/Library/Parallels/Parallels Service.app/Contents/MacOS/BootcampConfigurator.old"
