Installing Windows drivers in a Parallels installation on a Mac
I have a customer running Parallels on a Mac with a Windows XP installation. Everything had been working flawlessly for months until his Windows installation froze in Internet Explorer. My customer removed the wireless network adapter drivers to resolve the problem, but now he cannot get Windows to use the wireless adapter again.
I'm not familiar with Parallels, so I don't know how to force Windows to detect the network adapter, which I assume is a virtual device in Windows. Any help is appreciated.

There are two possibilities, depending upon how they have set things up.
The default way is that Parallels will operate using shared networking, where everything is proxied via the Mac. If the Mac is using wireless, then the VM will use wireless, but will see it as a wired network (as it is in fact wired to the Mac, which connects via the wireless to the outside world).
If you have the VM set to use Bridged networking, where it is assigned its own DHCP address, and operates separately from the Mac, then the Parallels networking setup (click on the spiders web option at the base of the VM) will allow you to bridge via the Default adapter (whichever is currently default on the Mac), or you can specify a specific interface.
Finally, if the wireless card is an external USB device, then you are able to specify when you plug it in whether the USB device is controlled by the VM or by the Mac. If you choose the VM, then you will install it using the Windows drivers, and it will be seen as a wireless device. If you choose the Mac to control it, it will be available to the VM via one of the methods described above.
