I did that, and although it now says
"other computers on your local subnet can access your computer at xxx-computer-local", the computer name is still the other person's name.

click the blue apple (upper left hand corner) and pull down to 'system preferences...'
third row down in the internet & network section, click the 'sharing' icon
there it is.
