Browse All TopicsMy default editor is now Word for Windows. I want to change it to be Word on the Mac.
Why? We are running a Virtual Windows machine under Parallels and when working on the Mac side with the VM shut down, the Mac starts Parallels which starts the Virtual Machine, starts Windows, and opens Word. I want to change it to be Word on the Mac and not open the VM, but I can't find a place to change this default.
Parallels has almost nothing to do with the question I think. If I wanted to change the default editor to be Mac Text, it would be the same question, that is, where is the default setting?
(This isn't really an AppleWork question, but its the closest zone I could find.)
Does anyone know?
Thanks, Ron Hicks

Do a get info from the Mac and under the get info screen look for the line Open With
Change the application pointer so that it points to Word for the Mac and then click on the Change All...
It will give you a warning but this should fix the problem, but now if you want to use the word application in Parallels you will have to open documents from within that application.
You can also right click on a file and go to Open With --- and select the program you want to open it with.
