Have you tried creating a new Windows account as a test and trying to start iTunes?
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI just downloaded and installed iTunes/QT combo on a Windows XP Home machine. Install seems to have gone nicely but when I click the iTunes shortcut on the desktop, I immediately get a Red X window that states
"The iTunes application could not be opened. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
I am logged on as a user with local admin priv's.
What gives?
Thanks in advance for any insight...

May be a virtual memory problem...try this
Here's what to do:
Close iTunes
Right click on My Computer
Select Properties
Click Advanced Tab
Click Settings under Performance
Click Advanced Tab
Click Change under Virtual Memory
Select appropriate Drive(s)
Select Custom Size
Change the settings to
--Initial size (MB) 400
--Maximum Size (MB) 1500
((I changed the setting on both the C: and External Drive where my music is stored))
Click Set after each setting is entered
Click Okay
Close out the remaining windows.
Open iTunes.
Hopefully, PROBLEM SOLVED!
