Yes it was Office 2008. And like I said, I only used it for one day, so I can't really say I am an experienced user. I am used to MS Office in Windows. And at the moment I am using Office 2007. The Office 2008 in Mac was enough for what I needed to do. But I wasn't comfortable with the user interface since I am used to the windows version of Office 2007. And like I said, it felt to me like a stripped down version of Office 2007.
There are NOT a lot of functional differences between MS Office 2007 in Windows and Office 2008 on OSX for standard users. Advanced Excel users will have issues and if you're needing the full working Exchange, collaboration, sharepoint functionality of Outlook then Entourage does not fit the bill.
The two biggest differences are
1. Outlook on Windows is quite a lot more powerful than Entourage on OSX. There are several reasons for this .. but if you've to work with an Exchange Server then Entourage is definitely less powerful and flexible than Outlook.
2. Excel 2008 on OSX dropped support for VB scripting and also certain types of advanced formula calculations. MS is supposed to restore the VB functionality in 2009 but I'll believe it when I see it.
Word & PowerPoint are very similar between Win and OSX with minor interface and functional differences but nothing that would affect 99% of users.

There are major differences in the user interface. To me it seemed like it was a stripped down version of MS Office. Then again, I only used it for a day.
