If you are using Final Cut Pro, follow these steps...
- Click the Effects Tab
- Open the Video Generators folder
- Drag the Text generator to the uppermost track on your timeline (putting the text on the uppermost track will overlay the text on your video tracks)
- Double-click the generator on the timeline to open it in the Viewer

Here you go...
- Select the Text Generator drop-down menu on the Viewer.
- Choose > Text > Scrolling Text.
- Select the Controls Tab in the Viewer
- In the Text field type your text
- The default clip length is ten seconds while the text source media has a length of two minutes
- Since the scroll speed is determined by the text clip length, if you have a lot of text, increase the length of the text clip and if you have a small amount of text, decrease the length of the text clip
- Use larger, thicker font to minimize flicker
