When I put it in, the drive just spins for about 10 seconds and then spits the DVD back out. I was just wondering if there was any type of workaround. Maybe I'm missing a driver or something. I'm going to try and play it on my parents computer tomorrow to see what happens. In the end, I'm trying to be able to edit the video in Final Cut.

The Mac should be able to read it unless the DVR recorded it in a proprietary format. I've seen that happen with some DVRs, etc. as a way to minimize copyright infringement.
