The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Cannot open QuickTime after installing Update 7.6.17.73

Asked by Montyj in Apple Software, Quicktime Player

Tags: QuicTime 7.6.17.73 error, Please Install Apple Applicati, Apple Application Support

I have updated my software package in GPO to install QT 7.6.17.73 over the previous QT. Now after the reboot and install of the GPO Package everything seems to be fine but when I click on QT it wont open and give "Please Install Apple Application Support" error. All we have done is modify the QuickTime.msi in orca so the only language is 1033 and set the GPO to ignore language. We started the executable on a machine then went to the temp directory and extracted all files that populated it. Normally there are only 3 for QT but this time there were 4 with Apple Application Support being the new one. Doing a manual install everything works but when the GPO references the QuickTIme.msi, that is part of the original 4 files extracted, it seems to install properly. We checked the logs and can see where the package was Assigned then Installed and when we look at appwiz.msc we can see QT has the new name we gave it according to the GPO but when we go to run QT on that very same box we get the error above.........BTW we are running W2K3 SP2....Any ideas on this?
