Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac - problems using it w/Vista over a VPN?

I've been using Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac (Beta 2) for several months now.  Usually, I use it from home over a VPN connection.  Works well when connecting to XP or 2003 Server.  But, when using it to connect to a Vista desktop, I have problems with the session "freezing" temporarily.  The session doesn't lock-up completely; it simply freezes for about 10 - 30 seconds, after which any mouse or keyboard actions performed during the freeze actually do complete and the session returns to normal...until the next time it freezes (about every few minutes).

I also support a consulting client who uses a MacBook Pro with a different VPN connection but the same RDC client.  She can access her XP PC without issue.  But when accessing her Vista PC, she also experiences these freeze-up's.  This implies the problem may be widespread, not specific to my own equipment.  Yet I haven't found any other info that mentions this.

Has anyone else had this issue and/or know how to fix it?  Would hate to stop using the RDC client since it's worked so well for supporting XP and the servers.  But, as it is now, I can't get much work done on the Vista PC because the freeze-up issue occurs so frequently.

Thanks for the info, although I'm not sure this is what I need.  The instructions in that online article explains the use of Remote Desktop 6.0 within Vista to remotely access other devices.  I'm actually using the Remote Desktop Client 2.0 Beta for Mac.  I should've been more specific:  I use my MacBook Pro to remotely access my Vista PC at the office.  My consulting client is doing the same.

As near as I can tell some combination of the RDC 2.0 client plus a VPN connection results in a remote session that freezes frequently.

FYI, Microsoft has released a couple of versions of the RDC 2.0 client for Mac since my original posting.

I downloaded the latest version (2.0.0 - 080530) earlier this month:

This version appears to be fairly stable.  I have noticed at least one session freeze-up, but, overall, it seems to be operating normally while I'm connected to my Vista PC.

Had been suffering with exactly the same mac RDP stalling issues, was using 2.0.1 build 090720. Downgraded to the version linked in this post and can confirm no more freezing when connected to vista machines!
