The answer is "no". The problem you face is exactly the same as though you were imaging a real 80GB HD onto a real 30GB HD. The partition table still indicates there is this massive amount of space beyond the end of the real (30GB) drive & whichever OS you boot on that HD will attempt to write to that area. The only method is to resize the partition table with appropriate partition management software down to the size you require. Once you have that resize complete, there may be another option, but I would still a new fixed-size VHD & image across from your dynamic to your fixed-size.
