Boot local drive in Virtual PC

I have physically moved the hard drive from my old Windows XP machine into the chassis of my new Windows 7 machine. I would like to run the old machine in Virtual PC 2007, but I don't see any obvious way to make the virtual "Hard Drive 1" be "G:\" on the host machine.

Am I missing something obvious? Do I need to use something other than Microsoft Virtual PC for this?

You will NOT be able to run your old OS on a Virtual PC, since there is significant difference between drivers of your old OS and Virtual PC drivers. It just wont boot.

What you can do is to actually have your old machine running and take a snapshot (convert it to a virtual machine)

I tried using the VMWare converter and the virtual machine immediately blue screened.
