The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

What's SMTP server for Eudora to send out mail on SBC DSL connection?

Asked by rawray in Eudora Email Client

Tags: , , ,

Dear Expert,

I have a DSL connection through SBC one place and a Cable modem connection through Comcast another place.

I am required to use EUDORA on my laptop which I connect wirelessly to a Belkin router at the former and a D-Link router at the latter location.

At the latter location, I have no problems sending outgoing messages from Eudora since I use smtp.comcast.net or Godaddy.com's SMTP smtpout.secureserver.net (as my email address raw@rawpp.com is a Godaddy email account).

However, at the former location with the SBC DSL, I can't find an SMTP that will let me send out email from Eudora.  Not smtpout.secureserver.net, smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com, smtp.pacbell.yahoo.com, smtpauth.prodigy.net,      smtp.swbell.yahoo.com, nor any other SMTP from http://www.host45.com/resources/ispsmtps.php .  It just gives me the error: The SMTP server said: 530 authentication required - for help go to http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/sbc/dsl/mail/pop/pop-11.html which doesn't help because it does not apply to my circumstances.

1) Can you recommend a few SMTP servers that will allow me to send out email from Eudora through my SBC DSL connection, both wired or wirelessly?

I even tried to setup my laptop as an SMTP server, installing a program called "Free SMTP Server" from softstack.com.  This also didn't work, the SMTP server saying: 550 Invalid recipient: <any email address that I tried>.

2) Why didn't Free SMTP Server work?

3) Lastly, are there any "free" remote SMTP servers out there anymore?  Like in the past, SMTP servers that allow anybody to send any mail without the server requiring authentication nor filtering according to email address or what not?

Thanks a lot for your speedy help!!!
