Ranjeet begged.
Offlate, i saw ranjeet posting couple of good things in Codebin... It was a good colelction of classes..

Good work ranjeet !

Partha
Qwaletee! You are so mean :(( A 99 point question for an open-mouthed begging??? :-( Now now, that's unfair. Anyways, don't accept an answer to this thread untill its my birth day. An that's a command :P I dun like gifts on days other than my bday u know :P
Partha thanksss!!!

At least someone appreciated :">

Well, I'll contribute more, now that I know someone does read them :-)
There should be some option in codebin, where the person who posted the code knows how many times it was viewed..

Partha
You are right about that Partha. I would also suggest that there be some panel to evaluate each piece of submitted code. While browsing the code bin I came across a lot of not-so-useful code. So, if the codebin has to be reputed as a repository of class code, some one must rate the code neutrally. Also, I am not clear about who currently is rating the code. If there is no neutral panel of people rating the code, it will be soon become a dump bin for all-sort-of-code. And we would, of course, not like that to happen.
I think some user who reads the code have the liberty to rate the code, so if he personally doesn't like it , he may rate it as bad...

;-)

Partha
Hahaha!

True! But what if I myself wanted to rate my code as 5 ;-)

Also, do take a look at the code I just posted :)
ranjeet
expecting somebody to evaluate the code would be asking for too much as it is open source, but my opinoin would be add the number of times the document viewed option. That gives a satisfaction to the person who posted the code...

btw, i saw the post, the link seems to be a dead link.... check it out
Partha
Ranjeet, looking gift horses in the mouth?

Having a panel screen the code would be against our principals.  If you want a "times viewed counter," go ahead. The CodeBin is also an OpenNTF project, so go get on that project team and upgrade the code.  nBlade did that last year.
Hmmm. That would be interesting to do. I would like to do that infact.
Partha thanks for pointing out. I have put a dead link in the description :-(

But the good thing. I've included a copy of the code in submission.
I'm still waiting for an answer to my question.
Not been developing on Domino off late in fact.
Then start developing!
Yeah! Only if people let me :-( I suffered a major setback today :( It was related to me and Domino :-(

But, I am ON!
RanjeetRain,

> Yeah! Only if people let me :-( I suffered a major setback today :( It was related to me and Domino :-(
What was your setback?  And what HAVE you been doing lately?

- qwaletee
Well, I was working for a good company as a GroupWare professional. I changed job thinking in the new company I will have a go at it. Looked like I had an opportunity to transform everything the Domino way. But.... I am reduced to be a stupid IT Manager, whose only job is to sign one odd purchase orders and tell people to do things. Not a decision maker. A rubber stamp actually.

Today, I had an interview, and see. At the end of it I was told I was over experinced. They were looking for a new/mid-level guy. Well, there are not many good jobs in GroupWare in India. Only some large companies have. Rest are the same. Do it free with MS tools companies. You may find VB and ASP developers sleeping on the foot-path here, literally. That's the market.

I thought I could be better being in GroupWare. But its not looking good.
So, sticj with the manager job.  I'm only one step away from those footpaths, and lotsof companies here use Notes.  I actualy LIKE being a manager, but I prefer "hands on" manager.  Nevertheless, I would not be picky.  I would advice the same for you.
i always love to work under a guy who understands what i am speaking.. See love to work with u as manager....qwalette, start a company, and employ me ;-)

Partha
Partha,

I started a company.  Now all I need is contracts!
Hahaha!!! Nice Partha ;-)

Well, i agree with you Qwalette. It would be nice, if I also had a say in things. I am a mere spectator now. My career will end here without a further rise. Opportunities for me are limitless in developement. Besides, sitting in a cabin doesn;t give me my soul curry. I need to get my hands dirty. If not, I would be a journalist or a media person for sure. I like to be in the middle of the action.
Wow! That's nice! Well, then certainly there is a chance when you have loads of work and you are running out of resources, me and Partha can get the peices of the cake ;-)

What say? Partha?
as i said earlier, i am always ready for any amount of risk , as i am confident in my skills....
so qwalette, any information if u need let me know...i can surely try my best

Partha
Guys,

I started the company a few years ago.  I just haven't had enough contracts to make my own steady living.
This is disheartening!

Qwaletee saying so? Sitting in west? Don't cause a panic. I would expect to have a financially wonderful life being in your shoes. Anyways, this is good to know though that you are doing your own thing. Even i come across that line of thinking. May be even I can begin a business of my own. I ofcourse have a little space and a bit knowhow of running an office. Just that I fall short of taking a step ahead. And with the kind of virtual circle we have here, it shouldl not be a problem acoomplishing any tasks I am faced with.
The west may have lower unemployment, but you can also come down pretty fast.  Cost of living here is MUCH higher.  So, let's say you save $50-60,000 for a rainy day, but then your income drops in half for a few years.  It takes a while to adjust, and by then you've burned through most of your reserves, and most of my expenses (about 80-90% of my prior income) were fixed costs that I can't break.  Things like rent, tuition, payback of loans, insurance.
Qwalette,
I understand u but i believe it's a matter of time considering your knowledge...

Btw, in one of ur posts, u explained the differnece between !(a=b) and a!=b , the example was nice, can u post that link.. somehow i am not able to find it out

Thx
Partha
I posted a link to that somewhere today, but I don't remember where it was :(
This might have been it:

I understand. Life has all the challenges, everywhere. Only it changes forms. Here also we have this type of problems. It basically depends on the circumstances. But we also learn to live with it; wherever we are :-)
Ranjeet, post some code, any code, so I can close this :)
Ok, bear with it some more time ;-) My bday is on 25th (set a reminder now :) )

Oh btw, I will do something about the code in the meantime :)
just post something already, anything, at least mildly interesting!!

But, Ranjeet, you didn't develop that code!
I did, i swear on my neighbours. This is an oroginal piece of code written by me and it took me over 1 and half hours to write it. I'll tell you what all this pseudo code features.

Usage of programming construst (flow control)
Usage of classes and user defined data types (real world scenario simulation)
Scope of variables

If you are still not convinced (makes me sad) check out this code that i developed recently. Its a class but also I have developed a complete ACL management system using this that i will post at OpenNTF too.

RanjeetRain,

I was certain I'd seen this before... but I will take your word!

Hmmm... I see. Well I never came across any such code however. Else I wouldn't have posted it in a public forum claiming its my original code :-) The idea for this actually came in my mind when I was looking forward to write a function to get the list of next holiday. And then I added a bit of more spice to it ;-)
