Outlook Express Default Attachment Directory

I am looking for a way to change the default directory where email attachments are saved.  I know this changed from OE5 (which use to save the last directory saved to) to OE6 which seems to default to the My Docs Directory.

I have browsed the posts here (and other posts) and noticed some registry edits which help with specific file types, but nothing that represents or helps with the default directory.

We are using Windows XP Pro and OE 6.  I would like to be able to change the default save to directory to something other that My Docs.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Try this

double click the email message with attachment
it will open in a new browser
enable the attachment
right-click on it and click Save as
Browse to the folder you  want it to store and save it

Now do the same for another email with attachment.
It should remember the location

Sunry
mavengroup,

what i find that even closing OE and coming back again and doing the same way I have previously told , it is remembering the location

Do you see that too ?

Thanks,
Sunray
mavengroup,

Actually this works  only if you donot have any identity in OE . If you have identity and log off and then try to save it will try to store in my docs folder

Thanks,
Sunray

Sunray,

I will try your registry edit (although it is for Outlook not OE) and let your know what happens.

I am experiencing the same that your are above with and identity.

I appreciate the help.

Sunray,

Thanks for the help.  Even though your solution was tailored for Microsoft Outlook it worked perfectly in Outlook Express 6.0.  My default directory is now set exactly where we want it thanks to the registry edit.

Thanks for the help.

Did you give a B grade just because my link was for Outlook. I think I forgot to say it might work for OE
