FrontPage2000 relative address of pictures

Hi Experts,

I have now a phenomena what I didn't have earlier. I made an HTML-based e-book. Normally I'm doing this job on my home machine (P4 1600, 512MB RAM, Win2000Prof SR2) but I was away and I installed on a Win98 (P3 400, 256 MB) the same FP2000. On this W98 machine the pictures are not transportables! That means the pictures were not shown, only the replacing square. The adress of pictures were absolute that is the adresses contain the whole path of my P4 machine therefore on the P3 machine aren't visible because the pathes differ.

There are some icons appearing on every page. The path is ../../IMAGES/IMAGES01/01.JPG - this is the standard (P4 machine version). If I don't copy, this appears normal with picture on the P3 machine. But after copying onto an other page in other subdirectory (using P3 machine) and repairing the path, after saving and loading onto P4 machine this pictures can't appear because of the absolut path: file:///C:/Dir1/Dir2/IMAGES/IMAGES01/01.JPG (this is the path for the P3 machine) in the pictures properties window which differs from the path of the P4 machine (file:///C:/Dir3/Dir4/Dir5/IMAGES/IMAGES01/01.JPG).

On the P3 machine I tried to replace the absolute address with the relative adress shown above. The picture appears normal but the relative address above after clicking OK changes to an absolute address!! The hyperlink property of the same picture remains: the relative address remains relative after copying.

What have I to set? or what made I wrong?

with best regards

Okay to make sure I understand your problem --

P4 machine has path to pictures ../../images/images01/pic.jpg
P3 machine has path to pictures ../images/images01/pic.jpg

Is this correct?

If yes, then on the P4 Machine (once you have moved your files back to the P4 machine) ---
The quickest way to fix this is to display your folders in the left pane view (view, folders list)
Single-LeftClick on the folder containing all the files of your e-book (not the images directory)
Click on edit, replace (check the find in html box and make sure Selected Page(s) is selected)
In the Find What box enter the bad relative path ../images/images01/
In the Replace With box enter the good relative path ../../images/images01/

Click on replace all
This will search through the directory you have selected and edit every page and fix the relative path issues. This method also allows you to move it back to the P3 machine and perform the same process.

Hi RCMB,

thanks for the suggested method, I had to made by this way but according to my question in the last line I'd like to know which setting was wrong in this case. You know this book has more then 150 pages and it is/would be  very tedious to look after such a transfer at every page wether each view is right or not.

But again thank you for answering my question

with best regards

RMCB,

I feel this is a bug or imperfection in FP (for this and the other question https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/20952106/FrontPage2000-Save-As-no-Page-title-line-Page-title-text-field-and-Change-button.html too). I found nowhere in the settings possibility for this phenomena therefore I tried in EE. probably the only solutions are what you offered. I have to accept your comments but I wait 1-2 days more if it had been some other sulution. I use FP2000 since shortly after appearing and made over hundred MB of sites so I have not many hope :-((
