Importing emails
Hello:
I exported my emails in pst format cause I had to install a new hard drive. I copied the pst file onto the new hard drive and I wish to import my emails into Outlook Express 6. Outlook Express is not recognized the pst file.
can someone help me retrieve my emails.

Sunray/War1: Outlook is not importing the pst file. The pst file was created from Outlook Express. I have never used Outlook. Please help

In Outlook Express, the email files are .dbx files. Try importing the dbx files. Make sure you have copied all the dbx files over from the old drive. Make sure they are no read-only in the Properties.
If no joy, create the same folder structure as the as OE structure, ie., make sure folder1, folder2, etc are the same as the old OE program. Now locate the new email folder. Copy all the old dbx files to the new folder.

Do you have the old hard drive still around? If so, put it back in and export to comma-delimited or some other format that OE can read. As already stated, OE CANNOT read a PST file. If you don't have the original hard drive you can send the PST file to someone who has Outlook and they can export it into a file that is readable in OE.

That old hard drive has been destroyed. I cannot recall the old folder structure from OE.
Is it possible to change the pst file to dbx?
I have now installed Outlook on the new hard drive. Can you walk me how to import.

Finally, I was able to import pst file into Outlook. Once in Outlook, I exported emails to Outlook Express. Thanks for your help techs.

When you copied the files, make sure the files are not read-only. Check the Properties.
With OE open, go to Files > Import > Messages > Microsoft Outlook
