VCARD loses all information in Notes Field when importing a VCARD with Notes in Outlook 2003

Whenever I attempt to import a VCARD with information in the Notes Field, all information is lost in the Notes Field.  However, all information in the Notes Field still remains in the original VCARD that I am attempting to import of which I can verify by opening up that VCARD.  I have tried to import the VCARD via the wizard and have tried importing the VCARD by draging it over to my Contacts.  I have even modified my View Settings to include the Notes Field.  None of these attempts worked.  I thought that perhaps there was something wrong with my Outlook 2003 and was considering running the Repair Utilility until I tested some other PCs in my company running Outlook 2003 and they all had the same issue.

Tried Googleing and going to Microsoft's Knowledge Base but to no avail.  Generally, I always find an Outlook issue resolution in here but nothing came up either.  The only thing at this point that I am sure of is that I am not the only one experiencing this as there were some questions about this issue that came up in my Google searches, but unfortunately, no resolutions.

Please help.  Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.

I have tried the test were I put something into the Notes Field in an existing contact in my Outlook 2003 and then export that contact to some folder on the HDD.  Then I check that contact in the folder I just exported to by opening it up, and sure enough, the notes are all there.  Then I delete the original contact in my Outlook 2003, and import the one that I had just recently exported.  As always, the Notes Field is now blank however, when opening up the Contact in the folder that I had just imported the Contact from, all of the notes are still there.  The same result happens when I try to drag the contact into my Contact Folder in my Outlook 2003.  I have found a work-around recently though: If you email the VCard then everything works just fine.  Basically, if I export all of my contacts from my Outlook 2003 as VCards to a folder, then attach them to an email and email them to the person who wanted my contacts, then everything works just fine.  However, if I leave those same contacts in the folder and the intended receipient tries to import them, or drag them into their Contact Folder, or opens them up and tries to save them to their Contact Folder, anything in the Notes Field gets wiped out upon importing in their Contacts Folder but not on the original Contact.  Really weird.  I don't think that it should work that way.

Try those tests and let me know if whether or not if you get the same results.

Thanks,

Hi, Sean.

Sorry to be so slow getting back to you on this.  I followed your steps and reproduced the problem.  Specifically, when I import/open a saved VCard the Notes field appears until after I've saved the import.  In other words, when I double-click the VCard it opens as an Outlook Contact and the Notes field is there.  I then click Save and Close, and then double-click the Contact in Outlook to view it again.  The Notes are now gone.  That's very strange.  I tried emailing the VCard to myself but that didn't make any difference.  The Notes field still disappears after importing.  I searched all my normal MS Outlook sources and see that others are having this problem too.  No one has a solution.  Microsoft has no mention of the problem in their knowledgebase.
BlueDevilFan,

Well, at least I now know that it's not just me and that my reasearch skills are just fine.  Obviously, this is something quite different.  I'm going to see if I can get a hold of Microsoft themselves and see what they have to say.  Hopefully, I can avoid their resolution fee.  I'm going to buy some more points and jack the Resolution Point Award thing WAY up as anybody who can figure this out definately deserves it.  Maybe that will be some more incentive for you and anybody else as I still could use an answer to this thing.  If I find an answer, I will definately post it.  Do you think I can get an award for posting the hardest question or something? :)
