Word hangs when 'saving as', Outlook does the same when saving or inserting an attachment, Explorer no longer recognises just 'www'
I would not have assumed that all three of the above problems were related were it not for the fact that a friend of mine is experiencing exactly the same problems (in triplicate). I have uploaded latest virus definitions and run and scan. Nothing. I have run scanpst.exe to check for errors on Outlook and it found and repaired OK. The wierdest thing is that, all of a sudden, I can't just type www then the name of the website, and then hit 'return'. I now have to type the full http:// leader. Any ideas? This is my first question on Experts Exchange and I'm hoping someone out there can lend a hand.
Thanks
Paul

BTW, the friend I mentioned shares a network with me. We're both freelancers and he has a desk in the same room as me and we share a LAN.

Well, I obviously got the top man. As we say in London - 'sorted'.
I really thought that these three problems were such an odd combination, I wasn't going to get a straight answer.
Thank you very, very much. 500 points well earned and $10 very well spent.

this is frequent issue around here
and this is the post of B-C-M that deals with it
---------
It's a conflict between a recent Windows Update and HP printer or scanner software.
See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=918165 for explanation and fix
Or do this (which is a quick way of doing what MS suggest):
Copy the following to the clipboard (it's all one line even if wrapped in your browser - paste into notepad and remove line breaks if necessary, and copy again)
Click Start, run
Paste into the dialogue box and hit return.

REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\W
