Convert QuickTime Clips and Movies to Windows Media Player format etc.

I have several QuickTime Clips and Movies, and I have QuickTime 7.1 for Windows XP, and I am not thrilled with the way it works compared to W/Media Player. In fact it does nothing other than play the movie, and its slow at that; when trying to navigate in the movie. QuickTime Says to upgrade to QuickTime 7 Pro for Windows $ 30, but I have heard every thing from it sucks to its good. What do you think?

All I really what to do is convert QTime Movies to W/Media Player format if it will function properly when converted to W/Media Player format. What do you think, and is there another way to make this conversion without using Q/Time Pro?
