When I start my Internet Explorer it goes to a site i've never even heard of. www.globe-finder.com

I've gone to tools, internet options to change it but after a while it still goes back to globe-finder.com

Hi Borath,

I also had the same problem and after a long struggle got rid of the problem.
The easiest way to get rid of this problem is to open REGEDIT and delete all registry entries for globefinder.

Merry Christmas
Bye

I used one of those spybot detect things before and I think I deleted an important file in I.E. because my I.E. stopped working. So I am hesistant to use another one of those again.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Search Bar
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Search Page
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Start Page

In Main, I didn't see another directory for Search Bar, Search Page, or Start Page

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Default_Page_URL
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Default_Search_URL
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search\SearchAssistant
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search\CustomizeSearch

I don't have a directory called HKCU

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Search Bar

I didn't have a directory in Main called Search Bar.

Any other suggestions?
What operating system are you using, removing ad/spyware may take out your internet connection, but it's pretty easy to solve. If it happens to you this time, post here and we should be able to help you with that.

Good Luck,

LucF
Just as a fyi:

If this happens to you with win98:

Open Network settings
1.) Remove all protocols except the Network Interface card.
2.) Click Apply & Close the Properties box, but on reboot notice, hit Cancel. Do not reboot!
3.) Open Regedit and delete these keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VXD\Dhcp
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VXD\Dhcpoptions
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VXD\MSTCP
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VXD\Winsock2
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock2

Close Registry Editor.

4.) Open Network Properties again, and Click ADD - PROTOCOL - Microsoft/TCPIP (should Add Client for MS Networks Automatically)

Have your windows CD ready or the CAB files,
Reboot and you should be good.

If it happens with win2k/winXP use this little tool:

I ran a program to get rid of adware called "cwshredder"

It seemed to have worked cus it deleted a bunch of files.

Now after I turned off my computer and turned it back on. When I get to my desktop page after running windows...I get an error saying something like, "Can't find msinfo.exe" as a windows error box.

I was afraid something like this might happen.

How do I fix this?

Oh ok, I was able to solve the problem. You guys were right. It was ad-ware. I managed to delete the files associated with it and now everything seems to be working fine.

sunray_2003's link was a great help. That page basically tells you everything you need to know in how to remove this. Basically it's an ad-ware program that gets into your registry and changes your searchbar from the Microsoft one to the ad-ware one.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Search Bar
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Search Page
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Start Page

Search Bar, Search Page, Start Page are on the right side of the registry menu. Double click on those and a link comes up with a bunch of percentages and signs...replace that with Microsoft's search page.

Again there were some more steps involved...

This is a good page to find the answer to this problem:
http://www.spyany.com/program/article_ad_rm_Global_Finder.html

I'll split the pionts between LucF and sunray_2003...Both of your suggestions were very helpful in helping me get rid of this problem. Another thing I didn't realize was a side effect of this ad-ware was slow typing on the forums. I would type a bunch of stuff but it took like 5 secs before it would show up on the screen...this problem has been fixed as well...

Happy Holidays!
Hmm, glad your problem is solved now, but you didn't split the points :-(
i am having the same problem. i used adaware after running it twice i was able  to get rid of it but once i restart the pc i get it back again
please help
