>> nstalled IE 6 yahoo explorer and this was not working properly

Kind of confusing.. What exactly is not working ? Internet explorer ?

Sunray
vasukeith,

Or did you download and install this.

http://ie6.yahoo.com/ie6/

go to control panel ---> add/remove programs and uninstall it .reinstall again and check if that would solve the problem

Thanks,
Sunray

Hi Sunray

I did uninstall that was not working. My browser opens and gives an error message and does not access any files on the internet. I did install from the link above you said ie6.yahoo.com/ie6

The run trouble shooting does not work either

How do I repair the install? I try reinstalling I get the error message that ie6 is deteched and cannot install again. So the reinstall terminates abruptly

Vasu
Since you have IE already in your machine there is a conflict between the IE that you are downloading from yahoo website and the one that is already present. If you are using OS other than windows xp , check this link and eradicate IE totally..

http://www.litepc.com/ieradicator.html

http://www.webattack.com/get/ieradicator.shtml

and then try reinstalling the one ( which you had downloaded)  and check to see if that would work ..

OR  donot install yahoo IE . Download the yahoo toolbar from yahoo.com and try to get the same functionality like yahoo IE

Sunray
I have windows XP what shoud I do? I do not see in Add remove programs listing of Internet explorer but I still get the error message when I install ie6 that it detects explorer installed already

Thank you
Vasu
Did you check this instruction at that page

Instructions
Close all programs and ensure you are still connected to the Internet.
Download and click Yes when asked if you would like to run "Yahoo! Suite Installer". This will then start the Internet Explorer installation.
Follow instructions in the Internet Explorer setup wizard.

Sunray
vasukeith,

Also check the system requirements. WIndows xp is not included .

System
Requirements: Windows 98, 98 SE, Windows ME,
Windows 2000, or NT 4.0 with Service Pack 6a or higher

See I am able to install yahoo toolbar and I have also got yahoo messenger in my IE ( this IE is not Yahoo explorer it is the IE that comes with windows xp) .. So you can download yahoo toolbar from yahoo.com and get the same functionality as yahoo explorer.

Since yahoo itself doesnot guarantee this program to run in windows xp , I think it maynot work ..

Thanks,
Sunray

hi

i tried with xp cd removing the program and reinstalling
then went to microsoft website they suggested to change the regedit through run and change the REG_DWORD with a hkey and i did that and
sometimes browser worked sometimes it did not and
finally through the properties at the e shortcut bar changing the internet options to automatically detect settings cleared the issue
this comment i am adding for future use for people trying to resolve this issue

thank you
