The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Battlefield 2 - "Your connection to the server has been lost"

Sorry for the low point value! Ran out :) Anyhow, I and alot of others have been having this problem. I just bought Battlefield 2 retail and every 5 minutes I'll get a message stating, "Your connection to the server has been lost". It happened alot on the Battlefield 2 demo too, but I thought it was just because it was... well... a demo. When googling I found this:

"Thank you for contacting us here at Electronic Arts Technical Support, we apologize for the inconvenience caused to you when you are playing the demo version of BF 2. We appreciate the opportunity to help resolve your issue.

Here are some general trouble shooting tips to help your troubles with the game online or on a Local Area Network (LAN).

First, be sure to disable any firewalls you have running.

· Software firewalls can simply be turned off, usually by right clicking on the icons near your clock and selecting "Close" or "Exit".
· Hardware firewalls should be bypassed by going from the computer directly to your modem, skipping any router you may have.
· Try cycling the Power on your modem.

If you have Windows XP, there is a built in Firewall that we will want to disable. Please follow these steps to do so:

· Double click "My Network Places" on your Desktop or in your Start Menu
· Click "View Network Connections"
· Right click on "Local Area Connection" and Select "Properties"
· Click the "Advanced" tab
· Make sure to uncheck the box under "Internet Connection Firewall"

If you have Windows 95, 98 or ME try using this method to reset your Network connection.

· Click on Start and then Run.
· In the Open box, type in: winipcfg
· Click "Ok"
· When the Windows IP Configuration box comes up, Click "Release".
· Then Click "Renew"
· Then close the Windows IP Configuration box

If you are able to connect after disabling any firewalls you have running, then this is definitely the cause of your trouble. If you wish to play the game with your firewall running, please see the specific settings for the particular game your having trouble with. This includes in-game settings as well as port settings and configuration for your firewall.

Also, please open these ports in your router so that you can play BF 2 without any problems with your router:

UDP 27900 Client Server
UDP 29900 Client Server Standard Server 29910
TCP 80 Client Server Standard port for Gamespy
TCP 29900 Client Sever
TCP 29901 Not in use yet
TCP 29900 Standard port 29920
UDP 27901
UDP 27900
TCP 28910
TCP 4711 4711
UDP 55123
UDP 55124
UDP 55125
UDP 1500-4999
UDP 16567

You may have to disable your anti-spyware applications if you are playing online as well as these may affect your online gaming experience.
