The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Btrieve Directory Error

My problem is on a Windows98 PC, using an application software package that uses Btrieve.  When trying to open the program, I get the following error:

Btrieve Status 35 - The application encountered a directory error.
Key=[C:\HELPER\data\FILE>DDF]
CBI Error Code = DBIERR_INVALIDDIR
Please restart Windows and try again.

The file.ddf file has a date of 6/13/2000; so I replaced it with a backup copy of the same file, hoping it had just become corrupted.  That didn't help.
Then I restored the entire previous backup.  That also didn't help.
Now, my conclusion is that I need to find a utility to resolve whatever corruption exists, but I can't identify it any better than what I just described.

I looked into working with the firm that produced the application software, but that approach was price prohibitive.

I am not familiar with Btrieve but am familiar with a number of other databases, in case that helps with gearing your level of response.Start Free Trial
