how can i open .mdf files and access the data.
how can i open .mdf files( SQL server files) and access the data. I downloaded MSDE software but unable to install it says Strict username and psaaword required . were should i look for that. Are there any other solutions.

You should post in the SQL Server forum. This is the Pervasive.SQL / Btrieve forum.
That being said, I believe that an MDF file is a "detached" database. You may be able to "attach" it to the new server and read the data. This link shows how to distribute MSDE and an MDF file including how to attach it:
