I have a customer that wishes to implement the Network Sync Service within ACT 2008 Premium for Workgroups. I have followed the tech articles located on the act.com/support site. I have enabled synchronization, created the Sync set and enabled "accept incoming syncs".
I click Create REmote Database. I enter a database name and select a path. I then select the sync set and allow database supplemental files to synchronize. I select Network (inside firewall), Machine name and Port number. I set a password. The utility runs through the entire routine. When it reaches the end of the remote db creation it errors with "Failed to create remote database <database name>. Invalid file or folder. " The log file <databasename>_ActObjectCr

I have searched and searched and cannot find anything regarding the error "invalid file or folder". I feel like I must be missing something obvious. I have tried some of the following troubleshooting methods:
1. I have tried multiple different database names. Multiple word names, single word names, names with and without underscores.
2. I have tried multiple paths. It does not matter if the path is local, a mapped drive, if the path name has spaces or if it does not have spaces.
3. I have made sure that permissions are correct on the destination folder.
4. I have tried both allowing and not allowing synchronization of database supplemental files.
5. I have set the CopyData Method to a value of 1 within the ActDiag database settings - per tech support article.
6. I can successfully telnet to the server on 65100
7. I have tried creating the file with and without a password.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim
