Need the SQL 2005 default password for the application

Does anyone know the default username and password for the SQL 2005 database that installs with the ACT 2007 Version 9.0?

There isn't a default password

If you're referring to the SA password, it's randomized, but you can get a utility to reveal it for backups or reporting

Am referring to the SA password.  Installing a time and attendance software solution that uses SQL db.  I am told that the reason I am having some challenges is because I need to know the SA password for the Act application since the SQL db was installed by the ACT installation.

The other application should use it's own SQL instance.... unless you have your own SQL cals, the ACT! cals are only for ACT!

If you think you still need the SA pass, you need to contact Sage Corporate Services - http://www.act.com/products/large/cl/services/index.cfm/

Your guidance is much appreciated.  I am quite the novice and am excited to have found this site!  What do you mean by "cals"?
It does appear to me that the applications are running their own instances but I am not sure that I truly understand "instances"  In my manager, I am seeing both applications appear as instances.
Does a password have to be created for each instance?

You really shouldn't need to touch the ACT! SQL instance... here's a definitian if an Instance - http://searchsqlserver.techtarget.com/expert/KnowledgebaseAnswer/0,289625,sid87_gci1169389,00.html

CALs = Client Access License. The license for users to use the application

I'm looking for the SA password as well.  The reason I need it is because I'm trying to automate backups for Act!  Currently the only way to back it up that I can tell is to do it manually from within the program.  Buit seems to me, if I could attach to the SQL instance, I could write a script to back it up on a regular basis.

Am I missing something here?

The SA password is randomised.... looking for it will cause it to change

There is a tool available for Premium users to get the SA password... and the Premium version can automate backups anyway.

I'm still on Act 2005, that's part of the problem.

Which was also only SQL 2000.
