Field values not changing on record change
Greetings,
We have designed a custom layout for our Act! (11) database and it seems that when a record has the value it displays the value correctly but if I visualize the next record the dropdown list keeps the value of the preceding record. It is the only field that has this behavior. Any help would be appreciated.

What version of ACT!?
Do you have the option in the pull-down set to "Automatically add new items to the list"?

The issue does not seems to happen on other databases. Only one field (date field) shows this behavior. It happens randomly it seems, sometimes the field value shows the correct info sometimes it keeps the value from the last viewed record. Happens on the 6 clients computers, all with different configurations and all of them on Windows XP SP2. I do not have the Automatically add new items to the list option. It is important to add that the DB in question is converted from Act 6.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Date fields should only have the calendar in the pull-down
There's no reason why it would happen in other databases as field design is specific to the database.
I'd check that you've turned off Opportunistic record Locking as per http://kb.sagesoftwareonline.com/cgi-bin/sagesoftwareonline.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=10675

Greetings!
Thanks for the suggestions but our server is running on Windows 2003 server. Like I said, this behavior seems to be random but always happens on the same field.
Thank you for your continued support.

Greetings everyone,
I have uploaded a video so you can see the behavior in question;
http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/494763/act.mov
It seems that if you hit next record and get back to the previous client, the field displays the correct data. It might be an act glitch? The poor screen refresh is due to my RDP connection, the behavior is still present when I am locally on any workstation.

So, it's nothing to do with the dropdown list, but that the old data is still showing in the field. Right?
What is the formatting of the field?

Exactly. But sometimes it happens, sometimes it does not, even If I do the same operation (same record, ect). Where can I see the formatting of the field?
Thank you for your continued support GLComputing, as it is very appreciated.

How often does it happen?
Does it happen for just one user or all users?
When it happens, if you leave the record and return, what data is there? IE is the data changed or just what is displayed on the screen?
When it happens, if you go View | Contact List, and add that field to the list, does it show the correct information?
To see the way the field is formatted - Tools | Define Fields
BTW: What did you use to record the video?

It happens 1 times out of 3.
Here's a screenshot of my define fields;

It does show the correct information in contact list. I used screenflow to record the video.
Thanks!

When you click on the field, is shows some more info on the left... is it the same as the other Date fields?
What build of ACT! 2009? 11.0 or 11.1 (check in Help | about)?
If 11.0 can you try updating to 11.1?
Can you also answer the other questions if the update doesn't help?

Greetings,
I will try tonight for the informations on the left, since I have to log out my users to see the information. Meanwhile, here is some info; We have 11.1 and we do not get this behavior using the old layout (The layout from act 6 from which we have upgraded) I have tried recreating the current Act 11 layout and re-adding the field, it did not fix the glitch.

Any installed Firewall and/or Anti virus Software (Including Windows Firewall) ?
Have you attempted to test this in another database and if so is the issue still present?
