You can also Access the database SQL views via a .udl object,
Just create a new text file and rename the extension from .txt to .udl,
Set the provider to ACT! OLE DB provider
In the connection tab browse to the database and enter your user credentials
You can then use the udl object from excel etc to extract data (from the read only SQL views).

It didn't come with ACT! 2008, it was only included on the install with ACT! 2009
