The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Strange issues with the activities in ACT! 2009

We noticed a glitch in our ACT! 2009 software that is very confusing. When you run a lookup and open up a contact, everything appears to be correct. However, if you scroll back and forth through other contacts in the lookup, eventually the activity under the "activities" tab stops changing. One contact is open on the screen...but it shows an activity for a different contact. No matter how many contacts you scroll throuh at that point the activity never changes. If you right-click the activity and go to reschedule it still shows the information for the wrong contact. However, if you hit cancel at that point, suddenly the correct activity is displayed for the open contact. Then, if you hit "next" and go to the next contact, the activity doesn't change again.

It's EXTREMELY frustrating and this apparent glitch occurs on ALL machines accessing the database. However, there is nothing wrong with the data itself! It's all there and in the proper location - the issue is with the software. This issue is also intermittent - occasionally everything displays fine. I have installed the latest updates for ACT! 2009, I've run a "check and repair" but, since the problem doesn't appear to be with the database, this of course didn't solve anything.

The ACT! database is hosted on a Windows Server 2003 machine and the gateway for all machines is a transparent Squid HTTP proxy. Any chance the proxy is somehow causing this issue? I think we had this issue before we even had the proxy installed but I can't be certain.

Has anyone seen an issue like this before? If I wasn't clear enough in describing the situation please let me know - I'd be happy to provide more information.
